Well now less than a week to go and I'm starting to panic.
When we decided to embark on this in March, James and I had a number of objectives we wanted to achieve:
1) Get in sufficient number of training runs so our legs would be strong enough to carry us through and our backsides desensitised to cope with 150 hours on a razorblade saddle.
2) Do some research to find a scenic, traffic free and shortish route
3) Get my GPS loaded up with all routes and directions to a bed for the night.
4) Have accommodation booked well in advance
5) Set up a blog for fun
6) Raise a significant sum of sponsorship to spur us on and make a real contribution to our charities
So how am I doing?
1) failed miserably. 15 or 20 rides of between 12 and 20 miles don't get close to preparing you. Think my legs will be okay but I have Coxyx Anxiety
2) Plenty of messing about on google maps but still haven't sussed out alternatives to lorry ridden A roads
3) Nothing, rien, nada. this is scary as without this we can't navigate - in this sat nav world I don't do paper.
4) Pathetic. 1st night booked and that's it. better pack the tent.
5) You're reading it!
6) Fantastic success. Thanks to all sponsors I've raised about £1,500 for Claire House. Particular thanks to Helen, my chief fundraiser and also Linda (my sister) and all her many generous workmates who don't know me from a bar of soap
